Medical pumps are common in a number of applications in a hospital environment, often present as IV infusion, PCA or insulin pumps, in ventilator systems and even to facilitate wound healing. Over time, a pump begins to function less effectively, resulting in a loss of vacuum and a sub-optimal performance. Regular maintenance and replacement of existing medical pumps is essential to ensure continued safety and performance.

Like most medical equipment, previously-used medical pumps can be purchased from specialist suppliers, either in their existing state or after undergoing a full refurbishment. The refurbishment of a medical pump involves complete disassembly and replacement of all worn or damaged parts. The oil and filters are changed, and all tubing and leads inspected to ensure they have sufficient residual life. Before a refurbished medical pump is resold, it is checked carefully to ensure that it complies with the manufacturer’s original specifications.
